Juvenile Corrections Officer


Juvenile Corrections Officers are responsible for the supervision of juveniles under the authority of the Probation Department. JCO’s may be assigned to any one of three Kern County juvenile facilities as well as community service and educational programs.


To be eligible for this peace officer position, you must meet the following minimum qualifications:

  • Completion of 60 semester units or 90 quarter units of college coursework, including courses in the behavioral sciences, social sciences, or criminal justice.
  • No felony convictions.
  • U.S. citizen or permanent resident alien who is eligible for and has applied for U.S. citizenship.
  • A valid Class C California Driver’s License.
  • Pass a physical agility test.
  • Pass an extensive background investigation, including a medical and psychological evaluation.
