Adult Programs
Investigations
The Adult Investigation units of the Probation Department serve the Court by providing pre-sentence information based on an analysis of the defendant's social and criminal history, the crime, the impact on victims (if applicable), and the sentencing laws as they apply to the specific charges pled and proven.
Supervision
Several officers maintain a high-risk caseload, monitoring those convicted of crimes such as sexual offenses, narcotics violations, and domestic violence. These officers conduct weekly home calls to verify compliance with court-imposed orders.
Prop 36
Adult Supervision Officers assigned to the Proposition 36 unit supervise probationers who have been convicted of felony and misdemeanor crimes involving drug possession or being under the influence of controlled substances.
PC 1000
The Deputy Probation Officer assigned to Deferred Entry of Judgment (formerly Drug Diversion) cases reviews the eligibility of every individual referred from the Superior Court.
K-9
The Kern County Probation Department K-9 Team was created in May of 2005. The mission of the K-9 Team is to provide drug detection capability to aid in the investigation, apprehension and prosecution of probationers or wards engaged in illegal drug activities.
Electronic Monitoring
The Adult Electronic Monitoring Program was established by the Kern County Probation Department on April 1, 1990 under provision of California Penal Code Section 1203.016. It is an alternative incarceration program directed toward sentenced low-risk adult offenders serving time in County detention facilities.
