Mandatory Supervision (MS) is a unit aligned with the framework of Penal Code Section 1170(h)(5)(B), which was composed during AB109 prison realignment (2011). Officers assigned to the unit supervise offenders who have been ordered to serve a split sentence, whereby they serve the initial portion of the sentence in county jail and the remainder in the community under the specific terms ordered by the Court.
Furthermore, officers encounter and supervise all three adult supervision types (MS, PRCS, Felony Probation), due to the nature of judicial sentencing. Moreover, MS officers attempt to actively utilize our department’s resources, in conjunction with other Community-Based Organizations, to offer a well-balanced approach in their efforts to assimilate offenders back into being productive members of society.
